Seeking Referrals: Struggling to Land My First IT Job.
Hi everyone, I hope you're all doing well. I'm reaching out today because I'm finding it incredibly challenging to land my first job in the IT field. Despite my efforts, securing a position has been tough, and I have debts to pay off.If anyone here works at one of the Big 4 or any tech firm (like Capgemini, cognizant, etc.) and could offer a referral for any of the fresher positions, like associate or analyst or trainee or consultant, etc. I would be immensely grateful. Your support could make a huge difference in kick-starting my career. Thank you.
Switching from PM to Engineer
Hey Grapeviners, I need some serious help. Bit about myself - just graduated this month and working as an APM at a seed stage startup. I have 1.5 years of product experience and 3 years of overall experience as an intern. Lately, not sure why but I am loving what engineers do. Closely working with them, and I guess it's nostalgic for myself. Because I did coding for 6 months and moved on for some reason. So, I understand how tech actually works. Have got good feedback regarding this. At the same time, I am not really finding the true value of what I am doing everyday. Feels a void inside. Also, I am not able to discuss all these things in person with someone, because I fear that they will judge me after doing internships for 3 years, I still haven't figured out my career. Such a loser I am. I have been thinking about starting coding again and maybe switching to a coding job in the next 6 months maybe. But again it would be tough for me as I only got weekends for me to learn all this stuff. What do you all experienced folks suggest? What should I do? Please comment if you can help 🙏
Looking for referrals — Full-Stack Engineer (Angular + Django)
Hey everyone, I'll keep this short. I was laid off from my last role at Beinex Consulting in May 2024 and have been on a career break for childcare since then. I've used the time well by going deeper on Django REST Framework, built a full-stack Supermarket Management System (Angular 19 + Sql lite, deployed on Vercel and Render), and picked up SQL analytics and Power BI on the side. Before the break, I spent nearly two years at Beinex as a Software Engineer building data visualization dashboards with Angular and D3.js, reducing app performance by 35%, and fixing 50+ production issues. All of it was remote, which is the only setup that works for me right now given family responsibilities. I have been applying for jobs for 6 months, but I have not received any calls so far. My tech stack : Angular 19, TypeScript, Python, Django REST Framework, Sql lite, D3.js, RxJS, Git, Postman. If you know of any remote full-stack openings or your team is hiring, I'd really appreciate an intro or even just a nudge in the right direction.
