Apple's New iOS Beta Adds AI Object Removal Feature

Apple has added yet more AI features in its latest developer betas for iOS 18.1, and this time we’re getting the ability to remove objects from photos. Several days after the Port of Seattle announced a “possible” cyberattack on its systems, Sea-Tac Airport is still largely offline, causing chaos among travelers and acting as a standing warning against taking security lightly. Magic, an AI startup creating models to generate code and automate a range of software development tasks, has raised a large tranche of cash from investors including ex-Google CEO Eric Schmidt. Codeium, a startup developing an AI-powered tool to rival GitHub Copilot, has raised $150 million at a $1.25 billion valuation. OpenAI is reportedly in talks to close a new funding round at a $100 billion+ valuation. France has formally charged Telegram founder, Pavel Durov, over organized crime on the messaging app. AI dominated Reliance’s annual general meeting. Russian government hackers have been found using exploits made by spyware companies NSO and Intellexa. Apple's new iOS developer beta lets you remove objects from pictures using AI. Apple Store Apple One iOS 18.1 beta 3, however, brought a variety of new features and changes—especially to Apple Intelligence. Beta 3 introduced a brand new Apple Intelligence feature: Clean Up. This feature in the Photos app enables you to easily remove unwanted objects from an image_url. My personal favorite Apple Intelligence feature so far has been notification summaries. But in beta 3, Apple has enabled them for all apps. In macOS 15.1 beta 3, Apple has made a change to the Mac App Store’s download behavior.
