Help me with my new year's resolution please
With the plethora of software being introduced in the market, for the past couple of years, I've lost track of staying on top of learning new tech. This will be my new year's resolution. Keep learning new tech - if not everything, the idea is to get my hands dirty with something new. So please help me with ideas on where to start and how to proceed. Context - I'm a senior engineer (9 yoe) at Meesho (of course). I'm strong in Java and Spring. Python and Ruby I've learnt and used in the past - with a lil refresher, I'm sure I can code again. How to switch ?
Hi all, I’ve been working with oracle for almost 2 years. It feels stagnant now. No new skills, newtech to work upon, moreover my position is Associate SDE but I’ve been with QA team since beginning. I’ve talked to manager regarding same but no fruitful outcome. I feel stuck. Im actively looking for switch but can’t figure out which skills to study or start from bcoz different companies ask gor different skillset. And my profile looks more like automation tester then SDE. Pls help !!
Learn something new or Open source?
My question, as a college student, which is a better thing to do? 1. Keep learning new tech stack and build different projects. Or 2. Try to contribute to some organization through open source and learn through contribution itself (assuming i have some basic knowledge) + increase my network of connections (if possible). My primary goal right now is getting decent on campus placement as of now but i have plans to try oss contribution in future even if i am unable to do rn. My 2nd year will end in a few days btw. Note that i can't do both simultaneously as my college is very hectic (tier 3) but it has some okayish placement.
