QA Slowly Becoming Irrelevant ???
Currently working as a QA contractor in a product-based company, and lately things have felt pretty uncertain. Recently the company laid off around 11% of the workforce overnight. I came to office the next morning and found out even my lead got laid off, who was the only person with proper product knowledge in our team. What worries me more is how AI-driven everything is becoming now — automation scripts, test cases, workflows, almost everything. During a recent town hall, leadership mentioned that developers are expected to handle testing and automation themselves, and QA teams may shrink further. One of my QA leads was even moved into an FDE role handling client issues and deployments, and he advised me to start exploring other domains like ML/Ops. Some teams already have just 1 QA or none at all. Honestly feeling confused about where QA is heading.
How you do QA at work and do your company employ seperate QA team/dev need to do everything
Hey guys, So i was asking questions to one engineer manager about quality analyst. I asked her how sdet as field in general as i already have 5 years of experience in QA field. Learning side by side coding for a next switch. She said do something else except QA as in her experience, her previous companies do not have QA team itself. So i am little confused as a career path. So wanted to ask how you guys software at your workplace and does sdet role will have significance in this market in future?
