You'll be a good fit if you have
- Expertise in backend engineering with deep proficiency in TypeScript/Node.js (NestJS, Express) and Python.
- Proven experience designing and scaling distributed systems in production on AWS, with a strong grasp of multi-database architectures (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch, Athena).
- Hands-on competence with Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes—setting up and maintaining production-grade infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of data management at scale, including schema evolution, ETL/ELT patterns, and query optimization.
- A robust security mindset with experience in designing secure systems, including auth architectures, threat modeling, secure CI/CD pipelines, and compliance-focused data handling.
- In-depth knowledge of the AI landscape—LLMs, agentic patterns, function calling, RAG, and embeddings—and the ability to translate these into sound engineering decisions.
- Familiarity with GCP and Azure architectures is a plus.
- A balanced approach to system design, with the ability to make explicit architectural tradeoffs and drive cross-team alignment.

Key Responsibilities
- Drive feature strategy alongside product teams, breaking down complex product bets into phased technical plans and leading execution.
- Own the full lifecycle of major product features—from scoping and technical design to cross-team coordination, delivery, and post-launch iterations.
- Architect and evolve our backend platform using Node.js/TypeScript and Python services on AWS, making critical decisions on service boundaries, data flow, resilience, and scalability.
- Design and maintain our data layer across PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch, and Athena, including lightweight data warehouse strategy and query optimization.
- Define and enforce infrastructure-as-code practices with Terraform; drive containerization and orchestration standards using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Lead the technical approach for AI-native product development, including agentic orchestration, LLM integration patterns, tool-use architectures, and real-time voice systems.
- Champion secure engineering practices by establishing standards for authentication (OAuth/JWT/RBAC), input validation, secrets management, dependency scanning, OWASP compliance, and data privacy.
- Set and enforce high standards for code quality, testing, observability, and incident response.
- Mentor junior engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and collaborative problem solving, acting as a force multiplier to identify and resolve bottlenecks.
