Zepto making their own GST rates now

Up until now Zepto was known for product dark patterns. Now they are coming up with random GST rates too 0.59/11.99 == 4.92% Are they now subsidizing GST too? This is day light robbery folks

Actually, this is a GST calculation problem because for many people it's unclear should GST apply after or before delivery of goods. They are a services company essentially, delivering goods. Plus item handling and delivery itself are two different services technically.

Many people add delivery then calculate GST but many people don't. Just this small thing makes crores of difference everyday in profit and loss and tax calculations across India. I don't think govt has clarified on such instances what you're supposed to do.

I think zepto here is trying to show breakup of GST itself which is even more confusing, since there are two services involved but customer doesn't know that.

Basically, GST design problem.

Yeah, i noticed this too but seems like every 10 min delivery platform is having these kind of handling costs and gats over it

These GST charges are clarified by GoI already for Zomato. It is a usual practice and nothing shady about it.

It is good that they are giving you a visibility into these charges. These need to be paid to GoI, plain and simple.

GST needs to be applied as per the service provided. These platforms are providing two services, one is item handling (which is believe is segregated due to franchising in dark stores) and delivery (which is core proposition of the platform itself.)

Too much money too soon, where have we seen that?

While I'm proud of these two revolutionising the quick commerce space, I somehow have a bad feeling about this
