I see some really dumb people getting hired left and right and some really smart ones who have a good portfolio are not able to make it

That's the beauty of campus placements. Our batch topper was unplaced, another most sought after senior was unplaced.
Not necessarily saying dumb people get hired first, they just accept fate, while smart ones know to evaluate their worth
