There is a reason why company NOT chose you to lay off. They need you. So one should not panic and make hasty decision to start looking for another job. Instead focus on making the company depend on you a lot. Take more responsibilities and take the load off (work) the people who got laid off. Also do not give full KT to new joinees. Make sure even they are dependent on you. In this way, you will learn a lot (from the work where ppl got laid off used to work on), gain more experience in the field and then make the decision to leave the org.

Cause its better getting fired, you get severance. Start looking, or better, working at another company till they fire you.
