“You’re Irreplaceable” is a Trap, Not a Compliment

If your manager says, “We don’t know what we’d do without you!”—don’t feel flattered just yet. What they often mean is:

🔹 “You’re doing the work of two people for one salary” 🔹 “We can’t afford to lose you, but we also won’t pay you more” 🔹 “Training someone else would be too much effort” 🔹 “You’re too loyal to leave, so we don’t need to worry”

🚨 Reality check: If you were truly irreplaceable, your paycheck would reflect it. Being valuable is good, but being stuck is not.

A a team leader, i never compliment any body. People are hired to do the job. Doing it properly is a minimum expectation.

Dogs and kids need to be patted and praised. Not men. A simple nod of acknowledgement is sufficient.
