YOE mentioned in LinkedIn jobs

If a company X has posted a job vacancy for a role and mentioned yoe of 3+ years , would it be a waste of time to reach out to the recruiter if i don't have that much of experience ? Has anyone been recruited given they have the skills , irrespective of the yoe ?

I think you should apply nonetheless. All my last 3 jobs I had the same or less experience than the minimum requirement and FAR lesser than the preferred requirements

Have a solid cover letter or an elevator pitch before reaching out. It doesn’t matter if you have the YOE or even skills, it’s far more important to have the attitude, intent to learn and ethics. I was a marketing major in college but I have ended up doing consulting + banking.

Of course you can’t apply to be a surgeon if you have done Hotel management.

I’ve never met the exp bar. Apply and hustle. Exp is just written for gatekeeping and it’s not strictly enforced. +-2/3y should work
