Yet to receive joining letter

Got offer from TCS . HR called and asked when is my last working day.I told her I am yet to receive joining letter ,she is telling you will get it latter after Background check or in between it will take time. In my portal I have selected 3 oct as joining date and in portal it is reflecting. Should I resign? Before getting joining letter via mail ?

Ask them to share some peovisional offer letter, before putting paper at current org. They usually share that. Else, tell them directly that you can't resign unless you have at least a provisional letter.
