Would you travel 2 hours one-way for a 50% hike?
I have a chill setup at my company right now. Barely 15 mins commute.
Just got an offer with a flat 50% jump in fixed pay. The catch? 4 days WFO and it's 22 kms away. We all know what that means in peak traffic—easily 1.5 to 2 hours one way.
That's almost 4 hours of my life gone every single day staring at brake lights. The greed for the money is real, but the thought of that daily travel gives me literal anxiety. Is the CTC jump even worth losing my sanity?
What's the max one-way commute time you guys would accept for a 50% hike?

anything over 40 mins will screw with your mind and body so much

Hey if it's only the commute issue then you can shift closer to the new office and you'll still make more money.
But need more context other than 50% pay increase, like are you open shifting? Are you open to dealing with potentially narcissistic managers? Is the new company more prone to laying you off etc.

Personally I would. 50% base increase is nice.

Shift closer to office if you are not a native of the city.
There. Problem solved
