I don't know the other person. I don't know if that was a genuine appreciation or if they are jealous that your small work has high impact and is bringing attention towards you. I don't know if they are hyping you up so that you work more while they chill. I don't know if the other person is planning to leave the company, so instead of asking you directly to take up more work, they are indirectly pumping you to achieve the same. It can be anything. Corporate world is an extremely low trust environment, especially in India.
