Would you take a pay cut to live closer to home?

People working in metro cities like Bangalore or Hyderabad.I genuinely want your perspective. I spent most of my life (and early career) in my hometown. For nearly 3 years, work was either remote or very close to home, so being around family felt normal and manageable. After a recent job change, I moved to Bangalore. I assumed homesickness would fade in a few months but it hasn’t. Being away from parents and family has been harder than expected, especially for someone who’s always been very close to them. The work here feels more like a temporary stint than something long-term. At the same time, I’m conflicted. I’m not sure if I’ll find a role closer to home with similar pay, or a remote role that matches the current compensation.

So I wanted to ask: Would you take a pay cut to stay closer to home or work remotely? If yes, what made it worth it? If not, what made you stay despite the discomfort? If you were in this situation,b would you plan a switch in a year or just push through?

Looking to learn from people who’ve faced this choice.

Yeah, totally. It's worth being able to spend more time with one's parents. They're not here forever, and will be gone sooner than you realize
