Would you ditch Tinder/Bumble for an app that matches you with someone to join for a casual tea shop hangout or local activity, Uber-style?

Hey everyone! I'm exploring an idea for a new app that’s less about endless swiping and more about real-life socializing. Imagine you’re heading to a tea shop, cafe, or local event and want company—our app would instantly match you with someone nearby who’s up for the same vibe, like Uber but for spontaneous hangouts. No pressure, just fun, safe, and casual meets to make new friends or connections. With 70% of dating app users in India open to trying new platforms and many feeling lonely or tired of Tinder/Bumble’s flaws (like fake profiles or burnout), I think there’s space for something fresh. Would you try this? What features would you love to see (e.g., safety checks, group hangs, or local language support)? Drop your thoughts below!

Yes, but don't commit anything about safety on such a platform that puts two strangers together. Because this is gonna turn into a matchmaker or dating app anyway.

How about aadhar verification and reporting the user will reduce his chance of getting a match

I am tired with only dating apps in the market, what if I am a person in a good healthy relationship but still open to making new friends, I would like something of the sort where the end goal is not dating rather it is friendship

It's nothing but a casual in person meeting app 1:1 you can decide whether it's frendship or whatever. Will it work for you

OPINION:

Better suggest activities that people are opting for in a region,

Like let's say you live in locality X and you want to meet new people in a-b age group

It suggests you activities that people in that bracket are picking up around you so you can join the same activity and meet new people.

For example, pickle ball really took off for the 25-35 age bracket in Bangalore. So anyone living near a court can be suggested to go for pickleball, this can include any activity even going to a particular tapri in a locality for tea as a Tuesday evening ritual or a particular club in a region gaining popularity.

This preserves anonymity like grapevine, still gives you the solution ie meeting new people making friends, and even new business ideas like opening a tapri of your own if you want to do something like that in a region based on poll demand of people in a region.

it heavily depends on localisation to make it convenient for the user to pick activities and these activities must include a suggested scheduling based on preference to make it easy to adapt to these new activities.

Just an opinion i might be completely wrong about this i am half out my mind rn. Peace out ✌️

That's a good point and I believe the same localisation provides personal touch and yes I can do that as well but my intention is 1:1 connect without any idea about the other person other than their linkedin profile and explore during the meet

The main problem would be if you get assigned a wrong person, there should be an option to unmatch just like we can cancel cabs. But the match should happen randomly and the user should have limited attempts per day. After matching the user details can be shown just like dating apps and then the user can decide to continue or not.

Count me in if you're actually planning to implement this

How do we know if he/she is a wrong person until we meet them ? I'm thinking like both will be knowing each other only if they meet else it would be like another app where people will simply swipe

How is it going to be different from the apps like Internations or Meetup?

It's 1:1 not a community app

Try bitchat on IOS launched by Twitters founder. It uses Bluetooth. Imagine having a long layover at airport and you need a company to spend some time. No number needed. And you can only connect with those who are in your range
