Would you care about work when on vacation?
I joined a company just a month ago, and now our cousins are visiting, so they've planned a family trip all of a sudden, leaving only a week and a half for the trip. I informed my manager about this, and he replied saying the team is on a tight schedule and one week would be too much to stretch. When I asked about the work from anywhere policy my manager then replied saying to complete all the tasks before I go on vacation. This is bothering me, and I don't think I'll be able to enjoy my trip completely.

Why have you written 2nd choice in a very negative sense? Who in his right mind would click that.

+1 When you have already made up mind, don't ask

@DarkerKnight When I suggested work from anywhere as an alternative, my manager realized how eager I was to go. So I thought this would look bad on me and hence the choice.

Teams that are always on a tight schedule is more of a managerial problem than a worker one
Take sick days, enjoy your vacation!

Yup, I've heard this before even after informing about my vacation 1 month ahead. He tried to guilt trip me into going.
But I went anyways. Work was still there. Tight schedule was still there. Micro-manager was still there. Nothing happened. We just continued work as usual.
Despite popular belief, nobody cares about the time you put in at work. So, take those leaves and enjoy.

Well if they are on a tight schedule , it's the incapability of manager not you , have fun don't think about work at all

Options are sick

Please enjoy your family time. Don't overwork yourself before the trip as well. Have a good reconnect

DEFINITELY NOT

Usually I'd say go for family time, but given that you've only joined the company 1 month ago, that changes things
