Would joining Amazon be a bad decision?
I'm a final year undergrad from a Tier-3 college and have been able to receive an Intern + FTE offer from a startup offering 40k stipend and 8lpa as fte (mostly base). I've also been able to get a 6 month internship opportunity from Amazon but if I join Amazon as an intern I'd lose my FTE offer from startup. Would choosing Amazon over the startup be a bad decision considering they haven't given PPOs to the last batch?
Please comment and let me know what you think of the same. I'm very confused and my parents are suggesting not to leave the startup offer.

To give you some clarity regarding Amazon's PPO offering They have still not onboarded all the 23 grads who interned in summer 22 and got conversions (mostly will be joining in Jan'24) Now coming to 23 grads who interned for 6months they did not get an offer despite manager inclination and the same for 24 grads who intended in summer 23. So realistically speaking there are atleast 2 sets of interns ahead of you who are in the waitlist waiting for offers, and it looks like all of them getting an offer is unlikely.
So I would suggest if your startup offer is from a reputed company and you get to learn there it would be better to skip Amazon

I know a lot of people who were in a similar situation last year and they chose Amazon and regret it today . Given the market situation today with off campus offers being very tough to get due to lack of supply and surplus demand, it's unwise to say no to an offer in hand

Wait what!? Did you say supply is less than demand? By supply do you mean "skilled" candidates? By demand do you mean? Idk π could you please elaborate your point on supply demand thing. TIA

In these uncertain times, one bird in hand is better than two in the bush. You can always keep trying for FTE opportunities but internships to FTE probabilities aren't safe anymore.

Most of my friends and even my gf has done internships there and i didnβt any heard positive reviews tbh. You will have to work something which you donβt know a-lot and show the results.
Luck if you get good manager if not hangout only

I know many people from 2023 batch who interned for 6 months in Amazon, now not having a job and planning to do masters π₯². They were some of the best coders I knew, but now they arenβt able to find a job. But I must say, they did enjoy their 6 months, stipend was above 1 lakh, the office was is too good.

Yes the difference is much but I'm not sure if going after the money at this time would be the right decision.

Choose amazon. What happened to a lot of guys last year with amazon was that they hoped they'd get converted. You know that there's a pretty good chance you'd not get converted so find a full time offer. You have like 8 months more. If you are lucky you start at amazon.

I've been applying to a lot of internship opportunities for the past 6 months but haven't been able to secure any good ones. That's why I'm worried. The market is very very bad for 2024 grads.

You can choose start up as it will provide you challanges to face such situations which will be more fruitful for you in future and also in terms of designation will change soon wherein Amazon is an established brand, you won't get chance to learn practical challanges in order to get ready for future.
Now, decision is all yours mate, Beat of luck

It is true but doesn't being in Amazon open more opportunities?
