Worth shifting into a PM role after 6-7 years of eng experience?

Hi guys, I have between 5-6 years of experience in engineering role (QA/Test automation). However over these years I have found the role to be unfulfilling due to the growth, impact and visibility. I have been considering going for a full time executive MBA (In India/Abroad) to switch into a PM/Strategy role. Wanted to understand if this is going to be really worth it, considering I will have high chances to start again at an entry level position? Or is this common to do post MBA?

If you're seeking growth and a strategic role, shifting to PM post-MBA could be a solid move. Your engineer background will amplify your technical expertise. You might start entry-level, but remember, with experience, passion can propel you forward. Let's catch a coffee sometime to discuss if you want.

As someone who did the same thing as you 13 years ago, my suggestion is to stay technical if you are technically strong. I have been regretting this move of mine ever since. The growth and visibility that you seek will come along at the right time. Instead my advise to you would be to upskill to whatever latest technologies are prevalent.

I feel I am technically strong, with some efforts I can shift to development as well.
@dKing just to get your perspective, any reason that made you regret this?

People have different reasons. As I mentioned, it is due to a lack of impact and visibility as an engineer (regardless of the $$$) that one might want to shift onto a role like this.
