Working time calculation ?

How tcs calculating time ? Is it based on id card swipe or based on laptop entry ?

For eg: if i go office 5min in logging in time and 5 min in logging out time will it show 9 hr ?

Or is it based on laptop entry means how much time laptop is inside the premises.
