Working Remotely - Single parent (Male)
I need your suggestions and guidance to how can I take working remotely as I a have two small kids and I am single parent taking their well-being but now I am being asked to return to office. I did raised this with my project and owner of the project have given an approval saying if we have a policy in place you can opt for it. Secondly when I raised this with hr asking for an formal approval to which hr denied saying that policy is for single parent but for women. Now I am stressed as how things will work as I don't have any relative nearby who can come and help me.
I am not sure as how to proceed in this situations. Who will help me inthis ?

This is not okay You should press HR more Try to make them understand about single parent
This is discrimination basis gender

You can not say this is gender discrimination in India officially because there are no laws for men in India. The discrimination is officially legal.

You can raise WFO exception. Provide child care and single parent as the reason. It is a valid reason and mentioned in acceptable WFO exception reasons. Check the policy before hand. I don’t believe it is limited to single woman parent only. Good Luck!

Yes you can give reason as Child Care. There is a policy for it. I got exception when my kids were born.

First of all if India believes in equality and no gender bias, where is that. One policy for women and one for men. It's real shit that company do.
Anyways do one thing just say I can't put my kids at risk by coming to office.
They will give wfh but you need to fight here.

I am in the same condition...the project gave me some relaxation in the early days when my kid's mother passed away. But now they are asking to return to office for 5 days. I am thinking about changing the job but I have too many restrictions...

Hi , best idea to take WFO EXCEPTION like you are not feeling well with documents you will take 2-3 months and try to another company .

Even i had faced same issue and mostly i am pregnant at that time still my HR did not give me any exception.....only project can provide BU approval to help us

Did you go to manager again with what HR said? What did they say or suggest

Which city are u located in bro?

The fact that WFO exception has a "single parent" option ,itself proves the difficult scenario irrespective of the gender. I myself am a mother of 8 months old, and I have applied for childcare WFH. Shoot a mail to head HR, if local HRs are not responding (they are anyways useless). You can also write to TCS head HR if necessary. Don't stop, keep putting pressure on them!

Switch to fully remote job
