Work situation: new project and pregnancy

Hey all, I'm looking for some advice. A friend in my department, who is a Sr. Quality Analyst, was assigned to lead a new project. It's a big step up in responsibility from their previous role. They just told their manager like she is 14 weeks pregnant and are now concerned about what might happen next. Are they fire her? Her terms are not good with her manager.

  1. If someone is fired by a company when they know they're pregnant, that's almost illegal. Company can be sued.

  2. Honeywell is an MNC, and will definitely never do this.

  3. Use this as an opportunity, that on return from maternity, look to switch to another team/manager

Not informed in writing. It is verbal communication only with the manager.
