Work Rant: <TCS is releasing tagged people from Project to send them on bench>

The silent layoff started in TCS, just after completion of 35 days bench policy, many employees from the bench are fired and it may increase in coming days, also not giving joining to the people waiting to join TCS from outside.

Allocated people were not releasing only they are targeting the bench people for the prolonged period

allocated ppl are getting released. Every account has the target of reducing 20-30% of c3a + ppl.

No , even if people are on a project, they are allocated and they are also targeted. Not only bench but workings are also targeted

Allocated people are getting released. The managers are asked to create a list of people who can be released because their package is high. One of my colleagues confirmed today. Managers argued that the team members are good but they have been given targets and they need to abide.

Yes, for my account already they prepared a list and released many resources in the name of budget constraints.

To be very precise, as Manager list is not based on package because manager do not know the package. It's all about people who were not working properly and not aligned with manager are getting released. Few associate are always in project who do not want to work or work 3 hrs only. Such all people are getting released but there are few good people also getting released in this reduction

Part of it is true. Associates package is also considered. Managers may not know. But HR will know and the names are getting added in the list. There could be other factors, but package is one of them. Performance is not not exactly the criteria. There are people who were doing very well, still got released from Projects. At least I don't know the rational behind the list. God knows how that is created.

It’s true, we also see the same like this that manager is asking project details to enter in excel sheet.

So out of 5 people in the team they need one person to be released irrespective of grade.

Though layoffs are true, there is lot more behind the scene. The thing is post 35 days on bench, the HR is getting involved to extract a detailed report of the resource, like how actively he's responding to RMG, how's he utilising his time in learning and the most important, his feedback from the project interviews he's taking. If someone without any valid reasons is rejecting the projects, the HR is directly asking about his/her intentions.....and at one point the HR is simply saying we don't have work for you since you are rejecting whatever we gave so please resign. The layoffs may feel unethical but it's not fully wrong considering the state of bench in TCS.
