Work Rant: Is This Fair? The Reality of Production Support Expectations
Working in production support for an MNC means being available 24/7 whenever there’s an issue. It’s a demanding job, and we understand the responsibility. However, recently, our new management introduced a strict 9:30 AM in-person meeting requirement—regardless of how late we worked the previous night.
We already provide daily end-of-day (EOD) status updates, yet they insist on this early meeting, dismissing suggestions to shift it to 10 or 10:30 AM. On top of that, they introduced an attendance tracker marking employees as "present" or "absent," despite knowing that support work doesn’t follow a typical 9-to-6 structure.
It feels like micromanagement at its peak. If we’re expected to be available 24/7, shouldn’t there be flexibility in return? How do other companies balance production support demands while respecting employee well-being?
Would love to hear thoughts from others in similar roles. How do you deal with such rigid policies?
