Trending @Infosys; Work laptop accidentally damaged
My laptop dropped from the table, now CCD is charging me 41k. 2 keys fell were not working from last last but now they are asking me it will require whole keyboard, LCD, top/ bottom cover to replace .I checked with SDM he is refusing to claim under projects since I have been in this project from only last month.( I have been in the infosys for more than3 years ).Did anyone faced this issue? Infy doesn't provide insurance for accidental and liquid damages

Hearing this for the first time. Laptops are normally insured for any type of damage and they just need to replace with warranty. May be policies have changed , Bad luck. Ask your manager politely; if Infosys is not providing insurance ; can I get insurance ? Because there can always be an accident ? I would also cc CCD and HR. This is a bullshit policy ; if this has happened

Infosys revoked all accidental and liquid damages policy on all assets just recently this year. Small dent, scrach and they will simply blame as physical damage and refuse to repair under warranty.

We get a laptop for work 24/7, to work on weekend so it should be responsibility of company, imagine damaging any instrument like crane by construction worker and being asked to pay for that

Did it get physical damage or just stopped working ? If no physical damage and only stopped working , should have told them it stopped working suddenly. Although morally it being an asset it should be insured and many people in past got their laptops replaced due to water spill and all, some even carry two for defective reason. They weren't charged.
Anyways how are you carrying out your work currently?

Yes it is a physically damaged LCD and the bezel around the lcd is cracked and the hinge is broken. Currently I'm being onboarded to new project so management is not concerned about my work as of now. They have suggested to pay by EMI.
