Withdraw money from PF

Hi There, I would like to know if it's possible to withdraw some amount from our PF account ?

If yes, what's the process like and how much time it would take.

Thanks.

Conditions to Withdraw PF

There are two main kinds: full withdrawal and partial/advance withdrawal. Each has its rules.

Full Withdrawal

You can withdraw the entire PF amount in these situations:

  1. Retirement — when you retire (usually age 58).

  2. Unemployment for 2+ months. If you stop working and are unemployed for two months or more, you can take the full amount.

There’s also a partial option after 1 month of unemployment (you might get ~75% after 1 month), and the rest after two months.

Partial / Advance Withdrawal

Allowed under certain life events or needs. Conditions like minimum years of service, purpose, property rules etc. Some common ones:

Purpose What you can withdraw / % / limit Minimum service needed / Other conditions

Medical (self / family) Up to 6 months’ basic wages + dearness allowance, or the employee’s share + interest (whichever is less) No long service needed for many medical cases
Marriage (self / siblings / children) Up to 50% of the employee’s contribution + interest Often 7 years of service required.
Education (after class 10 / higher studies) Similar to marriage: ~50% of employee's share + interest Usually 7 years service.
Home purchase / construction / land Withdrawals are big: up to 24× or 36× of monthly wages plus DA depending on whether land only or house construction etc. Minimum service (5 years etc.), property must be in your or spouse’s name, etc.
Home renovation Smaller limits — e.g. 12× monthly wages + DA or employee’s share + interest. Property must have been under your/spouse name etc.
