Wipro to Acquire Harman’s Digital Transformation Unit for $375 Million

Bengaluru / Mumbai — August 21, 2025 — Indian IT powerhouse Wipro Limited has confirmed its agreement to acquire the Digital Transformation Solutions (DTS) business unit of Harman International, a subsidiary of Samsung, in an all-cash deal valued at up to $375 million.

Strategic Expansion in Engineering Services

This acquisition aims to bolster Wipro’s AI-driven engineering capabilities, particularly across engineering research & development (ER&D), digital engineering, and device engineering domains. The DTS arm will be fully integrated into Wipro’s Engineering Global Business Line, bringing embedded software, AI, analytics, and cloud infrastructure strengths under its umbrella.

Global Workforce and Footprint

Wipro will onboard more than 5,600 employees from the DTS unit, spanning the Americas, Europe, and Asia, subject to the closing of the transaction—anticipated by December 31, 2025, pending regulatory approvals.

Harman’s Strategic Shift

With this divestment, Harman will sharpen its focus on its core strengths in automotive electronics and audio innovation—including iconic brands such as JBL, Harman Kardon, and Infinity. For DTS, the acquisition opens new growth avenues with access to Wipro’s global clients and resources.

Leadership Perspectives

Srikumar Rao, Managing Partner & Global Head of Engineering, Wipro: “The acquisition of DTS marks a pivotal step in Wipro’s ambition to bring to our clients end-to-end, AI-powered engineering services.”

Srini Pallia, CEO & MD, Wipro: “Their specialized engineering expertise, combined with Wipro’s consulting-led, AI-powered capabilities, will significantly enhance the value we deliver to clients.”

Christian Sobottka, CEO of Harman: The sale “unlocks the next chapter for the DTS business unit—one where it can scale faster, reach more clients in key industries, and fully realize its growth potential,” as part of Wipro.

What’s Next?

The transaction, expected to close by the end of 2025, will significantly strengthen Wipro’s ER&D services across sectors including aerospace, healthcare, consumer, hi-tech, industrial, and technology industries. Regulatory approvals are the remaining milestone before integration.
