Will relieving letter mention as PIP or terminated in valuelabs

Recently my friend was put into PIP, they have given one month time to meet the targets. In case if things go worst and if my friend asked to leave, will my friends relieving letter mention that my exit was due to non performer in PIP?

If yes, then should my friend put a resignation to avoid this?

HR will “counsel” the person to resign if he/she fails to meet objectives. The letter will not mention termination.
