Will My Offer Get Revoked? Need Advice! 😟

I’m in a tough spot right now and could really use some insights.

I received an offer from a company I’ve worked really hard for, with my joining date initially set for April 21st. At that time, my current manager verbally agreed to release me early, so I confirmed my availability. However, when I formally requested my exit, my employer reversed their decision, citing project dependencies, extended client deliverables, and critical handover responsibilities.

Now, my official last working day has been confirmed as April 30th, and I had to request a second adjustment to my joining date (May 1st or 2nd). The HR team at my future company said they need to discuss it with my hiring manager and will get back to me next Wednesday.

This has me really anxious—will they revoke my offer because of this? 😞 I’ve been completely transparent, provided official confirmation from my current employer, and even offered to assist with pre-onboarding tasks. But I don’t know how flexible HR will be in such cases.

Has anyone faced a similar situation? How did HR respond? Is there a risk of my offer getting revoked just because of a small delay that’s beyond my control? I really don’t want to lose this opportunity after working so hard for it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! 🙏

If you informed the HR well before your first joining date, normally they should agree to adjust. Just give them time for their internal approvals and Communications. However do check with them on Wednesday and reiterate your interest. Best to share screenshot of your relieving date mail with them if asked for.

Yes, I informed HR in advance and have already shared the screenshot of my relieving email with them. This is the second time I am requesting a joining date change due to my current employer's decision, but I have communicated my situation transparently. I understand they need time for internal approvals, and I will follow up with them on Wednesday while reiterating my strong interest in joining

Hope for the best. Most hr teams understand the challenges with notice periods, hopefully they will find a way to accomodate you
