
Will my band be revised from C to B
Hi, i joined in as TCS ninja but later on cleared wings 1 and became Digital. But in this appraisal cycle I have got a C band due to which the compensation got reduced. I rejected the band and had a discussion with my manager and reviewer. My manager even said he delivered everything but we want more proactiveness from his side. What's the chance of my band getting revised.

I am a Manager and I can tell you upfront your band will not get revised. Your Manager will do meeting with you...circulate MOM....Then after a month will come back saying Corporate did not approve. Better prepare yourself for other opportunities

Hello, Mr. Manager, thanks for being here to tell us the truth. Can you please tell us what is the reason behind doing this(rating digital associates with a C or D)? Is it solely for cost-cutting or do other factors contribute? Also, how long do you let an employee stay digital if they are a well-performing asset?

Hello dear..there are lot of reasons why your manager could have given you C rating.
- Your performance might have decreased recently in terms of project delivery. While it is good to upskill oneself it should not be done at the cost of project delivery
- Other team members might have been more productive so when doing comparison your relative performance might have been lower than them. Since Managers are required to have 25% only in A band then your manager will give A to them and B to you. If there are more high performers then some get A, rest get B and you get pushed down to C. So it is more of a relative grading
- Your Manager can actually be an A-hole so there won't be any rational logic you could apply to judge why you got C band.
- In rare circumstances your Manager would have given you genuine band. But then the Delivery Partner who would be above your manager and running multiple accounts would also try to do curve fitting. And things get complicated when a DP who has normally 700+ people under him tries to do rationalizing and changes the grade to a lower one than suggested by your Manager. In this case your Manager will be as helpless as you to get any changes being done.
- And lastly the Corporate HR as they have limited budget and need to make sure that the hike budget gets divided among all associates. So they can pull down anyone they want.

I see for only D band our variable pay and monthly performance pay is getting reduced from CTC... For C I have not seen such case... Do they reduced your pack after increasing?

Last date was 9 may or 10 may.. there is still chance.. follow up with reviewer to push unit owner to change band

No chance of band getting revised. If they need to revise, then it reflects on managers assessment capability. That’s the truth. Or your case needs to fall under rarest of rare category.

TCS is a scam company. They gave C band to many digital associates.
I think they did it intentionally, I saw one case where one associate cleared digital 2 months back and they gave him C band.
