Will MBA in top B schools give a jump?

Planning to do MBA to get a shift from a software role to a manager role. My interest leans towards planning, organising and managing rather than solving errors in the backend. Is it a good reason to do MBA to get this shift?? And when I talking about MBA it is in reputed B schools.

Is it worth continuing in the current role and dream to be a PM in the coming 7-8 years or should I shift now?
