Will Department Change from BPS to IT affect promotion?

Hi All

I have completed 2.5 years in TCS and currently i am on BPO grade and my manager along with HR agreed that i will be eligible for promotion by next quarter and they will initiate the same as soon as i get eligible in the system. Also parallely my manager raised a request for my department change from BPS(BPO) to IT grade (CC). Today i received an email stating that the department change has been approved.

I am just curious that with my recent change in department from BPO to IT, will it affect my promotion date?, and now i will be eligible for promotion only after serving another 2-3 years in IT grade.?
