At less yoe pbc just pure people in due to inflated ctc as it offers stocks and all. But see around you, microsoft, google, atlassian, walmart etc all product based companies fire people regularly. Amazon is famous for pip.

I started my career with a service based, worked there for a year and moved to product based.
Here is my POV, others may differ -

  1. Money - Obviously.. at minimum you are earning 2x, 3x even if you are not in FAANG sort of.

  2. You are paid for work, skills not for spending time in office or in front of laptops.

  3. There is flexibility of work location, WFH, you manage your own time. Finish the work in a day or a week.. do it before committed time.

  4. You get to work on some cutting edge , things that really matter, learn nice things.

  5. You meet people who are passionate about things in life. They are encouraging, there is healthy competition.. No leg pulling or demeaning.

  6. Since everyone around you is earning good, lifestyle is different, hobbies are different that you won't see in general in the country.

  7. Company perks are just spoiling.

And many more... I have been product development for 10 years now.

So all in all spending 6 months to grind is a fair bet to get a good life.
