Why tf is every job that I am applying to asking for 3-5 years of work experience?

Apparently lot of talent at 4-5 year mark has been laid off from these Startups and it’s creating a glut in the market.

I remember when someone asked for 5 years of experience in Langchain

Not able to apply to these after having ~6 years work ex either 😬.

I feel this so hard. Been sending out applications for months and it's always the same BS - "entry level" position requiring half a decade of experience somehow?? Make it make sense plz🙃

Dude, it's just a man made construct to contain your life because they are scared of what you are capable.

It's not our fault. It's just employers market. They see opportunity to exploit by hiring experienced folks in peanuts salaries and they are taking this opportunity. It's also that, there are so much supply across spectrum of roles that now companies are dominating every aspect - Harder interviews, harder resume filtering, lower salaries, worser wlb.

The moment the situation would get better (I am hopeful it would), all the people who were lowballed would be the first ones to leave

Its their way of lowballing applicants, they want senior employees for the pay of junior employees

It's the same frustrating situation; my resume gets selected, but HR mentions they are looking for candidates with 3-5 years of experience.
