Why no sensible manager exists in TCS
I've seen multiple managers in TCS & they all are exactly the effing same. Narcissist, Bootlickers, Scapegoaters, Politicians, Lazy & Nincompoops. The issue is, they think whatever comes to thier fungus infected minds is god written. They don't guide, don't help, always seek informations that can be used against you whenever deemed & always transfer the heat to subordinates. They only need few ego massagers around them, one or two "Amazing job" from greater graded dumbwits in thier seniority. I'm sure, other organizations would have even better quality idiots, but nowadays TCS is also not far behind those 3rd grade small company's managers.
Only Solution - make job security of all Managerial grades absolutely Zero, 1 rightly raised grivenvace or misconduct & they are snatched away of thier ID cards.
Your frustration is clear. However, sweeping generalizations about all managers in TCS might not be entirely fair. Every organization has its share of good and bad leaders.
You are mostly right but there are few exceptions as well. There are two ways to grow up the ladder either perform or play politics. In TCS most of the performers leave due to low salary standards while the other set stays as they don't find a job outside. Since they have grown up bootlicking and playing politics, they don't want to leave tried and tested practices.
