Why IT employees prefer product based company more than service based company?

The benefits I have noticed:
-
No timesheets as you are yourself the client so no need to keep a track of billing.
-
Lesser competitions. My company for example has just 1200 employees in my city and total 30k employee in total all over the world. While I had 3-4 lakh people earlier working along with me in a service based organisation.
-
Better work life balance.
For 99% Product based companies.
I am mostly doing governance and product design. But actual work is done by vendors like Capgemini, Deloitte, EPAM, Infosys here. I need to just tell them how it needs to be done and by when and finally review if they have done it correctly.
No night shifts, no adhoc calls or weekend work except during Go live. -
Lesser workforce also means better pay/increment/bonus.
In service based, I used to get max 70% with good ratings, but in Product based specially when your companies product is good and selling above average - you will get 100% or even more. Last year, sales were down for our product so not a good year and still we got 90% as variable. -
Extra perks like more holidays and more goodies.
We have 35 personal leaves, 12 public holidays and unlimited sick leaves with no medical certificate required while taking sick leaves.
In service based, I used to get max 22 leaves and while taking sick leaves, sometimes medical certificate was mandatory.
Extra perk - Food is cheaper or sometimes free. We get goodies every now and then. Hardly 1200 employees in my office and product is earning in billions dollar. -
No bench.
-
Approvals are not required much for getting any system access. Atleast in my case I got the full system access within 3 hours of joining the organisation. If I would have raised request as an employee working from vendor side, it would have taken weeks to get all the access.
Hope this information helps.

Kind of safe also. Service based is all on project but product based you don't have to worry much

Package and benefits are more..
