Why is it so hard to get into an APM role? (read below)
Hi everyone, I'll cut right to the chase I have had 6 months of experience as a product intern and I'm trying to get into an APM role for the past 3 months. I have not been able to get any interviews or calls for an APM role. The only calls I get are for product intern roles. Is 6 months of experience not enough to move into a full time role??? I've done my engineering, completed my MBA from a tier 1 institute yet I'm not being considered as a qualified candidate. The past 3 months have really taken a toll on my mental health and everyday feels like a burden.
I would really appreciate if you all could guide me on what to do because I have no clue where I'm going.

Brother i feel you cuz I’m in the same boat. Have 1.5 y exp as PM and APM post MBA and still haven’t landed a job since being laid off around New Years. It’s a terrible, terrible time. Thinking of taking up any other job now. :(

So sorry to hear that bro. These are really tough times.
A hack into PM role is actually to work as a product intern. if you are good, the company will automatically promote you to APM or PM based on your previous experience. Gate crashing may not work much. PM role requires a mix of business, tech, design and ops know how and claiming to know this in 6 months could be tough for companies to digest. Take the intern job and move up the ladder by proving you are better than existing PMs. 😉

Bro I'm having 2YOE as TPM still ain't getting much leads
Why this obsession with PM roles? Have you maybe considered you might not be a right fit. Take feedback from where you interned and find out how you can upskill.
Rationale is: roi on PMs with shorter tenured exp is lower than PMs with exp. Companies are willing to spent a little bit more and have PMs onboarded so that they can generate more value per resource
Heyy, if you know about any companies having vacancy for product interns, please mention them here, I ll cold DM them
