Why is diversity needed in software development role?
This a genuine question and I'm honestly curious and don't know whom to ask this. I'm here to get educated on this topic pls don't get me wrong
A metaverse app where a user creates an avatar and can roam around and interact with other users and play games, etc
Your mic and speaker stay active, if a user comes near you, you can hear them speak, there's no way to mute users or avoid this experience, unless you stay in the "home" room.
As a female avatar, the moment my character entered any public room, I'd be surrounded by male avatars screaming things at me with no way for me to mute any of them or turn this feature off, unless I turned my volume down
It was clear there was not a single woman on the team because, in my opinion, that's the first thing she would've designed
Wonderful example. Yes that's the reason I would like to have women as a designer, product manager, BA, leadership, etc.
However, my question is for a software development role who codes these decisions
We need women or diverse designers, managers, etc but not coders is like saying we need intelligent politicians but not bureaucrates or policy drafters
