Why ESOPs not RSUs

Hi, I recently got an offer from a startup which went public in last year but they are offering me 10L esops. As I am fresher I don't know much about these but from my research I realised that ESOPs arent much useful as we will get an option to buy the stocks at market price instead of stock worth the amount directly alloted to us. Can anyone please help with this?
