BPO and IT growth in Kolkata
Why there is no growth in IT in West Bengal and TCS is the Monopoly in BPS and IT in Kolkata. When will this situation change?
With the Cost of Living skyrocketing in major cities like Delhi, Gurgaon, Bangalore, Pune, Mumbai, Hyderabad etc and salary increments staying constant, resulting in lowered quality of life, why doesn't the government promote industries in new cities of India?
Why are they looking to cram everyone in select 4-5 cities leading to overcrowding, depleting resources, higher demand leading to higher prices and hostility from the locals?
Also, why do states like West Bengal don't want to develop their state and bring new industries and companies?
Most companies have a good amount of Bengali staff and if WB decide to develop, many many would take a transfer to Kolkata leading to rapid growth of the state.
I understand corruption is there but with more industries comes more people meaning more consumption and higher GST collection which is an opportunity for the politicians to make money.
Growth benefits everyone and doesn't leave anyone behind, even if it's corruption.
I think it's a chicken and egg story. Unless there is reasonable talent available in those cities even the corporates will hesitate to set shop there. I would love to see cities like Indore, Ahemdabad, Lucknow, Kochi, Chandigarh, and Kolkata go big in the corporate map. The much anticipated GIFT city too didn't take off as per expectations. Will talent be interested in migrating to these cities also is quite debatable at this stage. Unless governments envision a 20 year project and develop everything towards that it is going to be difficult.
Twin cities with solid expressways and rapid metros is somewhat easier I would say. Develop cities closer to the already big metropolises and make commute better. City grows by itself and the talent is readily available.
I think it’s easier for them to continue pouring money on infrastructure in few existing cities. The cost of setting up from scratch from other cities could be very high too

Just visited Mumbai last weekend, it has somehow gotten worse over the last 5-6 years. Every 3rd or 4th road is either under construction or unusable.
This girl from bumble legit defended Mumbai being safer than other metros literally ...
😅 Owner increased the rent by 15k to meet the market. They expect bachelor's to pay up or exit. 55k is the new price for 3bhk in a 15 year old society. When will the bubble burst? Is everyone making 40-50 lakhs?
