Why do most men avoid skincare products?
When I speak to most men, they don’t use any products, not even a basic cream. While most women treat it like a priority and have done decent research on different acids, ingredients etc. Why is this so?

It is just not a priority until it is

That’s so true! 😂

Exactly… I mean It's intriguing how my boyfriend never fails to join me whenever I indulge in my skincare routine. They do enjoy skin care, it’s just they might prefer to participate without the fuss of purchasing and applying products themselves.

Last week I started skincare. Not products just care. Gonna stick to it for 2 years

What does it include? Washing your face more often?

And more importantly, what made you start?

Is it even working for anyone? I got expensive products, followed routine and all My skin is worse than it was without them. But now I am too much in this that cannot go back

It worked for me although I only use doctor's suggested treatment.

Rub your face with medimix until the toxic chemicals are drained

It depends. Some men really take care of grooming aspects but they tend to be in Finance or PM or customer facing roles. However, tech bros in general, don't take care of the grooming

Which one are you? 😄

Why there is a doubt, I'm a grapevine user so it automatically means I'm a dweeb!

Regularly following skin care routine for the last 2+ years. Sometimes my friends roast me but recently I have seen some of them started too. I have expertise on something they don't.

That’s another reason too, men avoid skincare due to the stigma around it too. What got you into this? Were you facing some skin issues? Or just as a precaution?

Skincare feels like scam

It is. once my friend explained the "importance" of applying sunscreen, lotion, moisturizer etc. I just made a joke that I scam people out saying that a skin care routine has a 5 step process, meaning 5 serums/lotions and make the later steps more "important" and less in quantity and expensive as well to ensure people keep on buying it and make more money off of it. Turns out this is what happens. I was like, damn!!

I think they don’t find it that useful to spend on it.

Have been doing it rigorously for last 1½ year, I have knowledge about all ingredients now and use them as per my current skin condition...
I used to tell my friends and family actively about it and recommend then stuff, but my family and friends started calling me gay and made fun of me, so now I indulge in it, but don't tell anyone about it unless asked or I see some very serious condition of someone's skin that can be treated easily.
Also after spending 1½ year and spending >₹10000 (this is huge money for guy to spend in skincare) in this field, a lot of skincare stuff gets sold on hype, influencers are paid 🤑🤑 and they start harping whatever is told to them. I have realised what exactly each chemical does and add them to my basic skin care routine as needed.
Happy to help if anyone needs

I have oily skin, prone to pimples, every now and then. What do I use?

What's your age?

Because it's projected that skincare is a whole lot of things that you need to do. You only need 4 things: facewash, moisturizer, sunscreen and serum (I use niacinamide).

Do you have dry or oily skin?

Combination skin. Oily mainly on the T-zone.

Looking presentable doesn’t required too much skin care. Social expectations don’t add value to the effort required.
