Why do Indians called graduating as passing
Passed out, Year of passing - It means different thing in the English language

And also cuz languages evolve. Apple for example is called seb in Hindi, which originally was a completely different fruit. So what we call Seb was a different fruit originally which due to a mix up changed meaning. So languages like biological organisms change and evolve.

But now that we know these are different, we can consciously correct it

Why? Languages evolve. The word unicorn used to mean a one horned mythical creature. Now it means a start up with a billion dollars valuation. It's literally the same word who's meaning has now changed. There's no one right way to speak a language. People will experiment with languages and change what words mean. It's fine and a good thing. Or like I said, we would never had the word unicorn. :)

Cuz English isn't our first language.

This reminds me of when I was in school I used to call eraser as rubber but when I found out what rubber means in American English, never ever have I called eraser as rubber.

After surviving college, we literally pass out
