I personally feel it's because of how the higher authorities treat the old designers once a new hire comes in. They treat the new hires with lots of care and attention while old designers have to bear with a lot of insults from the managers and co-founders. It's the higher authorities who have to change.

Designers have a set process and new designers mess with it. Always bad.
The foundation of design is built on criticism, making designers often fearful of other designers' critiques.
On the other hand devs don’t pretend to be superior and stay humble with their processes.

So true

Logic and creativity are two different spectrums. I believe thats the reason.

new guy always comes in too heavy. will design 100 mocks that wont get picked up for another 12 months.

because new designers aren't helpful for the longest while you become responsible for his/her productivity.

All good reasons mentioned below. Plus design is subjective, code is mostly objective. There are no strict right or wrongs in design. That creates a lot of room for debates.

Dealing wiht the new intern is even worse.

Due to the ratio of designer and developer in the company , companies usually hire developers in 10:1 factor to the designer
