I feel it's due to lots of expectations. Nowadays people want their partner to be perfect in all aspects, that is, financially, education wise, looks wise, sexually, understanding wise, etc and this is impossible that their partner can be perfect in all departments. With time, the imperfections tend to be more visible leading to disappointment in relationship.
