Why are Indians obsessed with virginity?
Everyone wants to explore but experience in sexuality is looked down upon, especially by those that have a lack of it thereof.
Also a generally observed trend, women prefer experience and men despise it.

Because when said "experience"... how to deal with emotions and situations.. if we get to learn this from relationships it's great.. but when "how to drive" experience kicks in.. that I don't think needs experience.. I mean what do we seek out of that "how to drive better" ?? I don't see a point in that..

Experience in sexuality is not truly looked down upon. People lacking sexual experience internally are very aware and anxious about their lack of it.
But a lot of people not able to obtain the experience, due to being from conservative families or conservative towns, or just lack of social and dating skills with the opposite sex.
So publicly, to save face and maintain their social status and self esteem in their own minds, they resort to "slut shaming" - a pretend glorification of virginity and cluelessness & lack of experience about sex.
Sex is a natural human desire, and everyone craves it. But those unable to obtain it, pretend to look down upon it - kind of a classic case of sour grapes coping strategy.

Audacity to correlate "lack of social and dating skill" & "slut shaming". This linkage you have setup is absolutely wrong. I'm not sure of others ...but yes I lack social skills esp. for opposites..but that doesn't mean I'm slut shaming anybody. And cluelessness? Just throwing random words.. Nobody is glorifying virginity...but yes people are for sure glorifying body counts.. and tada you are experienced in sex now. Great 😃
Chances of a girl mistakenly dating a mediocre guy is much higher than boy dating a mediocre girl given our sex ratio.
Now if that relationship doesn’t turn it into a marriage, girls can find another partner quickly because of options waiting. Few men who can’t find another partner try to get their partner back are psychopath enough to haunt her for life if they don’t return back.
And I’m sure it would be mentally distubing for any men to receive random calls/ messages once in a while from fake insta handles that their wife was fucked around a lot in clg / office etc.

I would say choosing partner is the fundamental right of any human being, and choices can be as wild as possible.
So if someone wants a virgin, it should be respected. Someone wants non-virgin that should also be respected.
I love this idealistic view of the world and completely agree with you doing you and me doing me but i also want to understand the fundamental reason for this bias to exist in the first place.
