If you want men to pay for your date, say so. No point in making circumstances which are gender unequal, sound as a 50:50 to work in a particular gender's favour.

I never understood why people think date is a one sided thing. You shouldn't go on a date where someone just asked you and you don't feel like it. If you feel like it, you should be an equal contributor.
Otherwise you are just adding one more name to the list of girls who go on dates only for free food.
Why not just pay your own expenses? First date shouldn't feel like an investment to get returns later, more like just to know about the other person maybe?
