Who are the best product leaders in India? Maybe you report to them, like their content, or love the products they have built.

Not Lenny. I'm asking about leaders actively working in India.

Let's give them the acknowledgment they deserve. Please mention any product person you admire even if they are not 'LinkedIn famous',

None of the good ones I worked with are active on social media, or are too vocal about their opinions.

Mention any that you think deserve recognition

Don’t want to take names without their consent, but I enjoyed my time during Zoho’s early days. Betting on SaaS way back in 2002 when it wasn’t even a proven industry was insane. Not many know, but the world’s first online word processor was built by Zoho. They have amazing engineering talent (and engineers who double up as PMs and Product Leaders). Where they fail is branding and marketing.

I have worked with him. He is very good - maybe one of the best PMs in Gojek - but I won’t say he is the among the best product leader in India. He was lucky to be in the right place at the right time and have an influential sponsor (Vik) and works extremely hard relative to others.

True that, but Manas is very open to share his knowledge on his blog and I really like and follow lot of his advice to run Product teams.

It’s interesting that we recognise only those who are popular on social media channels. I was thinking lately if social media presence is becoming a benchmarking of skills. Warikoo (with his poor understanding of investments) is claimed to be financial expert. Liverdoctor is medical expert and many such others.

Is it coz you’ve seen them active on Social media or coz you’ve worked with him?

The best ones aren't actively spouting gyan on social media.
They are still seeking knowledge. I have worked with a few of these who were earlier in the US, but have now returned to India. They are relatively unknown in the startup ecosystem.

Both aren't mutually exclusive. Yes, there are social media clout/opportunity chasers. But smart ones identify social media as one of the channels like any other, to build their brand and see if they can make it. You can continue seeking knowledge and dispense it too

SqueakyQuokka

Not disputing that - many start, but then realise that there are better roi avenues than sharing generic content on social media.

Good leaders are actually very difficult to spot on social. Plus even if you work in the same company you need to earn their trust to understand how they do it, else you will think either they are philosophical or egoistic. Personal experience.
