Who are the actual culprits behind layoffs?

Lakaad & Kirthivasan

I believe the root cause of TCS's decision to lay off 12,000 employees stems from systemic issues in its compensation and management practices. The Wings 1 program, for instance, creates significant pay disparities by offering high salaries to associates with just 2-3 years of experience, comparable to what employees with 8-9 years of tenure in the organization earn. This imbalance breeds resentment among loyal, long-serving employees who feel undervalued despite their dedication and performance. Additionally, TCS has been reducing variable allowances, a substantial component of employees’ quarterly salaries, further impacting morale. The company also appears to favor external hires, offering them significantly higher pay than internal, experienced resources who have grown within the organization. This preferential treatment erodes trust and loyalty among existing employees. The mismanagement by TCS’s CEO and CHRO has exacerbated these issues, contributing to poor workforce planning and inequitable policies. These factors—pay disparities, reduced allowances, and lack of recognition for loyal employees—have created an environment of dissatisfaction and inefficiency, ultimately leading to the drastic decision to lay off 12,000 employees.

TCS is the worst employer for loyal employees and it ranked lowest in India compared with every other it company in pay disparity . So skilled people moved off and dependable projects ramped down

Wing 1 associate doesn't get higher salary by simply sitting people these are people who has good grasp of knowledge and also who are working hard to get higher salary so don't blame wings 1 candidate .
What's with this bootlicker post?
Why blame an employee when one of the major reasons of layoff is a slowdown of revenue due to no new projects being onboarded.
Hiw is it GenZ's fault that new projects are not being onboarded, either due to US tarrifs, economic slowdowns or due to AI?
Are GenZ responsible for attracting new projects?
Latest AGM shows that revenue growth last quater has been largely attributed to workforce reductions and benefit cuts, not to new project acquisitions, because project based growth has effectively stalled.
Do you know what age category GenZ even is? Majority of them are freshers, straight off the degree mill.
Most of them are on 3.6LPA CTC or less. Very few are lucky to be on digital/innovator/hi-tech. And people who switched on high salaries are even fewer.

I second that GenZ got it screwed with barely enough pocket change to survive a metro city

What a ridiculous take. 😀
There are multiple factors that have contributed to where the company stands today — and you seriously think Gen Z is to blame? The same Gen Z that’s still waiting endlessly for their joining letters? 🤣
Let’s not pretend people sitting on the bench are doing so out of choice. Many are making conscious decisions to hold out for roles that align with their career goals and long-term growth. Everyone knows that getting stuck in a support role is a dead end — it’s not ambition, it’s desperation if you accept just anything.
So instead of pointing fingers at freshers who are already struggling with instability and broken promises, maybe reflect on the systemic issues that actually led us here.
I myself was a prime joinee. I was given false promises of being given the most sought after tech roles and ended up getting dumped in support after all. So, we know who is at fault here.

Low quality of deliverables has resulted in low customer confidence.
Structural issues within TCS due to reasons already mentioned by others are responsible for low quality of deliverables.
Unless they fix from junior to top. They will not get growth back. They will be showing fake profits at the expense of the employees.

Combination of all

The bench people's salaries were being paid by cutting our QVAs. You now have an idea of who the real culprit is. The stubbornness of accepting any project has made management take this step. Because of few godly creatures, everyone now will suffer.

TCS is paying the amount for bench people which are equal to the market cap of any small cap company

How are options 1 and 2 fair ?
GenZ can be a pain ngl but there are really good GenZ as well. Plus their pay is very very minimal.
Management who believed in GenZ ? Are we really talking about the same Management that kept hiring left right and center just cause they can ? The same that increased their pocket while leaving the normal employees to struggle with 4% hikes ?
Look around you nobody is earning shit here in the base level. The digital guy, the lead, the manager are all on the same boat. The CXO that got 3 cr increase meanwhile is enjoying with our efforts. Cut their hikes and there will be money for the organisation.
Tell me one thing most of the people here who have a family dependent on them struggle with the salary they are getting. Why should the CXO get freaking crores for putting the organisation to the ground ? If they were true leaders they would have opted not to take that 1 cr extra. Do you really need that much to live ?
This same Management hesitates paying talent top of the line market price but increase their pay and also hire multiple freshers. Keep those who boot lick there with good pocket change just like jesters. The organisation runs medieval where kiss ass works. You dont have talent no problem just bootlicker or stay here.
Most projects I am sure run with the ratio 20% of the people doing 80% of the work. The other 80% is pointless Hierarchy that makes no sense. Manager loves two bootlicker they create new Hierarchy for them. Finally one person at bottom ends up reporting to 8 people stacked. Wtf is that ?
To people saying Digital people the thing is it is a game system designed to filter out talent. See those who crack Digital tbh if they put in the effort elsewhere they can easily jump to better companies with excellent pay. Digital exam is like CPA right now where one has to wait years to crack. You end up enslaved with too much stress to keep getting A or B band leading to years lost without realising. They gamified the system well nobody leaves.
Then dont get me started on the RMG HR and Benching policy. The really good talent most of the times end up getting the boot. How many RMG AND HR personnel do we really need ?!! There is an HR or RMG for every crap at this point which is pointless. No good project and they expect benched people to pick one which leads to career suicide. Fire them mouth breathers first, those HR and RMG. Their numbers make no sense.
Finally there are or were bench warmers who abused the system. I remember people back when I joined who were on bench travelling across India going on trips and literally telling they are on bench they can enjoy. Those who abused it deserve to be kicked. But those who are good deserve a chance to do good stuff not legacy career suicide crap. Why dont the HR nor rMG put in chance to filter it out ? No they are too busy being Tumtum Aunty making gossiping and making lives worse while eating off the money the actual people make. There are good HR and RMg btw but they get buried with paper work and torment for just being good or kind.
The whole organisation top knows its only a matter of time before they have to leave or go 7 feet under so they just wanna fill their pockets. They dont want care nor want to build a legacy. Meanwhile, here we are blaming Gen Z, Digital Candidates, Team Leads, and immediate Managers.

If we don't raise voice majority will get affected, there's no analysis done, just for cost cutting for this layoff happening so as to ruin employee's life
