It depends dude, it's a limited number so use them wisely. I'd say give a thorough look at profiles you really like and then shoot your shot. I had 5 compliments and finally decided to use it, got reply on 3 one of whom is my girlfriend now. And it massively depends on your opening line as well, ideally it should be something they can't ignore.
