Which company to choose out of two?

Hi,

I have 7 YOE and had joined a company X last month with 39 fixed and 15% variable which is around 45 CTC. Now another company Y with which I had interviewed previously is offering me 50 fixed CTC(no other component).

X has good culture and it's new team and project and flexible wrt WFO, but company is in losses and layoffs probability is more. Y is stable and much better brand compared to X, but it's 3 days a week mandatory hybrid in Bangalore and need to relocate. Should I switch to Y within a month of joining X?

Stay in X

It would be better if you name X and Y.

A bump in the fixed component that too with a stable company is a much better option for the future.

Difference is 5 lakhs, post tax it is 3.5lakhs. Relocation needs new rental place, food cost is increased and other appliances. Should be more than 30k per month. Don't think you should switch.

Yes that is exactly one of the points which I considered that there is no much monetary benefit, but should I consider other aspects for long term, like my current company(not Paytm, some other company) is considered a sinking ship by people, and other company is considered better brand, will it matter while switching to next company. Also, usually hike is given on base rather than overall CTC. And in 15% variable there is no guarantee that full amount will be paid.

If flexibility is important to you then better to stay at X. If you are a bachelor and don't mind relocating, you can choose Y. Personally I'd like to avoid 3 days mandatory commute to office in Bangalore to avoid being frustrated due to traffic and spend more time at home, even at the cost of slightly lesser CTC
