If you have some extra money look for automatic gears above AMT. Driving feels a bit lagged with AMT.
If you are considering a hatchback, I recommend any Maruti AMT vehicles. I purchased the Maruti Celerio Zxi Plus AMT in 2018, and it has been over 7 years since then. I have not encountered any issues during my long journeys. I travel to my hometown, which is 450 km from Bangalore, every 3 to 4 months. The engine still feels fresh. What I believe is that if you buy an AMT, your engine will remain smoother compared to manual cars due to the handling of the clutch. Additionally, you will get more mileage (at least 1-2 km per liter more) in AMT mode. The only drawback is that you will definitely feel less power in AMT cars due to the automatic gear shift. I struggle a bit while overtaking other vehicles on highways, but this problem is negligible compared to the benefits.
The biggest advantage of driving in peak traffic is that neither pressing the clutch nor frequent changing of gears is required. It feels so relieving to drive in peak traffic. I have driven manual cars before, so I know the difference. AMT cars are definitely a huge relief in peak traffic.
